Making Your Backyard Football Field
As a football fan, you have gone to all the important matches, collected items to show your patronisation of your favourite players, joined an online fantasy football managing game, and had your face painted with your hometown's team colours. Now, the only thing left to do is to have your own playing area in your backyard so that you can enjoy a game with your family or friends whenever it suits your fancy.
The first requirement to achieve this is to have enough space in your yard. You do not need to have the same area as a professional football field - what is important is to have ample ground to kick the ball comfortably without causing any immediate harm to anyone or to anything in your house. After you have selected the perfect spot, mark it using a string and start clearing it of rocks, shrubs, and other objects that will be an obstruction. The next step is to cut the grass, leaving about an inch or one inch and a half of green. This is the recommended height for a good play. However, if you live in hot temperatures it is advisable to leave it a little longer to avoid its drying up in the sun. When this is done, it is time to set up your goal posts at one end of the field. One scoring area can be sufficient enough to give you an enjoyable match, and it will also help maximise your field if you have limited space.
Once this is done, prepare a set of cool drinks, call your buddies and your kids, and start kicking that ball around.
